Filament Dryer

Update: Added fifth layer (pink) that fits the lid perfectly, and this one isn't interchangeable with the other four. This project transforms a budget-friendly food dehydrator into a high-quality filament dryer using 3D printer parts. A large print bed is required, at least a Rostock Max size. http://a.co/hrIYtBO Copy and paste this URL to access the product on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6TA9YO/ The exterior design fits snugly between the trays without modifications. I kept the print simple by not adding holes for the filament, then used a drill to install bowden mounts at the end. The center parts bolt onto the tray and utilize a skateboard bearing. The center part is slightly weak, but it successfully holds the bearing above the spool's center of gravity, allowing the spool to self-balance. Overall, I've been impressed with the significant improvements in print quality using this dryer. The third picture shows a black part printed from a spool that had been set out for some time. As it dried, the print quality noticeably improved.
