Filament Drybox O-Ring Bowden bulkhead FeedThru
thingiverse
I've utilized a significant amount of Bowden style feed-throughs that utilize purchased components, which can have small outlets that drag on filament. To address this issue, I wanted to design something removable and straightforward. This component should seal effectively as well, although it's not the primary focus. It features a 22mm flat surface to accommodate a wrench, doesn't rely on an O-ring under the large surface area (make sure to debur your holes!), and is designed with simplicity in mind. You'll need some Metric O-rings that measure 3.8 x 1.9mm P4. The O-rings are relatively inexpensive, costing around a penny each, and are cheaper than the cheapest receptacles available. They also don't damage Bowden ends. At your request, I've added another inner component designed for 5mm Bowden, utilizing a "P5" O-ring with an ID of 4.8mm and a cross-section of 1.8mm. The O-rings that you push in from the ends provide sufficient friction to hold the Bowden tube while allowing you to insert or remove it as needed. There are two O-ring grooves available, but you only need to use one. The second groove makes the seal more secure and marginally more airtight. If there's interest, I can share a thicker version of this design for printing your own TPU face seals. There are already "adjust to fit" rigid solutions available on the market. I'd like to extend special thanks to Ruud - the original designer - for sharing his designs and making them accessible. Note: I printed these components using a Prusa MMU in "Deplete" mode, resulting in lots of non-functional color changes. You can download the design at https://a360.co/2Rfmv3b.
