Filament dry printing chamber
thingiverse
UPDATE 29/04/20: Find a cake container that fits snugly around a filament roll, with an inner lower diameter of about 218mm and an upper inner diameter of roughly 232mm. The height should be approximately 94mm on the inside, not including any volume in the lid. To account for size differences, apply a thick layer of silicone between the container and the side fitting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Several prints were experiencing issues due to moisture in the filament. A solution was devised to keep filament dry regardless of print duration. The design attaches to 2020 extrusions on an Ender 5. A plastic cake container that fits most filament rolls was acquired, and a part designed to attach to it was created. A hole was drilled into the side of the container, allowing for PTFE tube installation. Silicone is used to secure the part to the container's side. Next, screw in a pneumatic adapter at the top, enabling direct connection from the adapter to the hotend/extruder via PTFE tubes. A small bag of desiccant should be placed in the spool center. The spool will rotate freely within the cake container with minimal friction.
