Filament Dry Box

Filament Dry Box

This is my first drybox attempt. It holds four rolls with ample room at the bottom for desiccant. The main purpose of this post is to provide a parts and placement listing since I only printed two components for this drybox. Here's what I used: * Sterilite 20qt Gasket Box with Latches Clear/Blue * 5/8 in.-11 x 36 in. Coarse Silver Metallic Steel Threaded Rod, cut to 12.5 inches with extra for more (https://www.homedepot.com/p/5-8-in-11-x-36-in-Coarse-Silver-Metallic-Steel-Threaded-Rod-802267/204274014) * Lantee PG 7 Cable Gland (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0736VHP1X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) * EEEKit Hygrometer Thermometer Digital LCD Monitor (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BLY177S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) * "Dry & Dry" [5 LBS] Premium Orange Indicating Silica Gel Desiccant Beads (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7OE6WK/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) * PTFE Teflon tubing 3mm ID X 4mm * Loctite Plastic Bonding System (https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Plastics-Bonding-Activator-681925/dp/B000Y3LHXW/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Loctite+Plastic+Bonding+System&qid=1590980846&sr=8-1) * 3D Printed Rod Mount Here are the steps to assemble this drybox: 1. Cut the 5/8 in rod into 12 1/2 inch sections. 2. Print the rod friction mount with the edge facing down. 3. Glue the rod friction mount 6 1/4 inches from the inside bottom to the top of the mount (refer to the pictures). Let it sit overnight for the glue to set, following the manufacturer's instructions. 4. The rod should fit snugly between the mounts; test it to ensure a proper fit. 5. Use a 1/2 inch drill bit with a 3/8 inch pilot hole to create holes for the "glands." Place tape over the plastic with marks every 3 1/8 inches, four in total. Drill slowly and carefully. 6. Insert the glands and cut PTFE tubing to your desired length. 7. I added a design for a gasket (washer) printed from TPU. I used eight washers, placing one on the front and one on the back of each gland. This is likely overkill, but why not?
