There are many filament spool holders out there, each with its own unique geometry and type. But every single one I've tried so far has a major flaw: they all require loose spools that you have to juggle around when switching filament. That's why I set out to create a simple system that serves as both filament storage and easy access for use. The idea isn't new, there are plenty of similar designs floating around online. But my solution uses something different - regular containers from your local hardware store, a cheap plastic pipe, some pneumatic quick connectors, Teflon tube, M4 screws, and zip ties. My 3D printer is housed in an Ikea box with the filament dispensers sitting on top. A feedthrough equipped with another Teflon tube brings the filament inside, and so far it's been working seamlessly. Here are the parts you'll need: Storage box: Mine measures approximately 370x270x270 mm. Tube or similar: Up to 25 mm in diameter will do. Pneumatic quick connectors + M5 nuts Teflon tube M4x20 screws + nuts Zip ties (optional, but useful for keeping those spools in place)
