Filament detector box bracket
thingiverse
I'm getting frustrated with the filament detector on my CR10s because it keeps coming loose as the height of the filament changes with each new model. Instead of fixing it permanently with glue or bolts, I designed this simple bracket in Fusion360 to solve the problem. The bracket sits over two frame-spacers and is held by a few zip-ties, which was the easiest solution since I didn't want to damage the frame parts. This little fix addresses several issues: 1. The 'spigot' at the top prevents the filament detector from coming loose from the motor plate. 2. The 'inlet' hole allows for smooth feeding of the filament at various angles. 3. The large diameter hole makes it easy to feed the filament through all three components manually. 4. The hole is big enough to insert a PTFE tube if needed. I've been using this setup for several months without any issues, and I'm convinced that it's made a significant difference in the machine's performance. This bracket can be printed on its face with no supports required, but printing it face-up on a raft with supports and using Simplify123 to print yields a better surface finish.
