Filament Cutter (90° Straight Cut)
thingiverse
This is a direct adaptation of the popular filament cutter by 4ndreas, reworked as a 90° straight cut version that enables you to cut the filament even while it's still in the printer. This feature allows for effortless color changes on the fly. The straight cut design ensures smooth feeding of the chasing filament because it snugly fits against the old color. It incorporates the end piece of a 9mm brake-away type razor blade, an M3x16 screw, and (I used) a 17.5 x 5.5mm spring. You may need to drill out the mounting screw hole with a 3/32" drill bit. Secure the screw tightly against the bottom while the plunger is pressed. There's a provision for a setscrew that would securely hold the blade in place, but I didn't use it. On December 11th, 2010, I uploaded a 3mm Filament Version Base (Untested). **Print Settings** * **Printer Brand:** MakerGear * **Printer:** M2 * **Rafts:** No * **Supports:** Yes **Notes:** I used support on the base for the channel.
