Filament cooler (fan mount) for two 60mm fans
thingiverse
Hey, so this is a mount for two 60mm fans (60x15mm, 12V) that will be used in my filament extruder. It concentrates air like a funnel to speed up cooling and make it more efficient. The front part is a bit longer because I want the airflow to be lower at the start (front) and highest at the end (rear), so the filament doesn't cool too quickly. You can print the top part all together, but it's too big for my bed, so I sliced it into two parts and printed those. Legs are necessary so air can get to the fan from the bottom. Their height is 10mm, which isn't much, but I needed the cooler to be 50mm high (within the bottom of the legs and holes for the filament in the top part), so 10mm was all I got. There's also a hole for the filament in the top part, which reduces the height, but also makes the filament cool from the sides and top more than if it was just above the part. Print as you wish - horizontally, vertically, whatever works best. Since this part doesn't have to be very firm, you can print it with fewer walls, less full layers, and much less infill. I printed mine with 0.3LH, 1 wall, 0.6mm top/bottom thickness, and 15% infill. The part weighed about 25g, but the finish was quite bad. I'd print it again if necessary, but since it doesn't matter that much, I'm letting it slide. I'm not sure, but maybe scaling it down would make it suitable for 50mm or 40mm fans as well. If you measure it or try it, please let us know in the comments. As always, I've included the .dwg file.
