To create a DIY filament coil holder, use two cones supported by eight 608 ball bearings each. Secure the assembly in a hand wheel that contains an M8 nut. For version 2 of the hand wheel, opt for a smaller design with more clearance. Recycled bearings from rollerblades can be used, and the fixture remains effective. Print the coil cone twice, with infill at 10-15%. The holder requires higher infill (25%) to support a one kg filament spool. Print hand wheel with support due to overhang issues. Update: A smaller coin cone is added for coils with approx. 25 mm inner diameter.
