Filament Clip - Rounded Edge
thingiverse
Yet another ingenious solution for securing loose filament in storage. This nifty clip eliminates the need to twist or contort the filament's end by providing a simple and effective way to clip it in place during storage. The clip is specifically designed to fit onto the edge of a spool reel, with a precise fit optimized for reels featuring a 4.0mm rounded edge, as seen on the 3DFillies filament brand. However, other brands may also work well (thanks to the many options available!). In most cases, you can leave the clip in place while printing, thanks to its tiny size of just 10mm high. The filament-facing side is angled to avoid any snagging or interference with the spooling filament. The clip's design ensures a secure hold on the filament, making it easy to store and retrieve. Simply snap the filament into place, and it will stay there until you're ready to print again. I've successfully printed the clip using both PLA and PETG materials, but found that PLA tended to crack under stress. I highly recommend using PETG for this project, as it provides a more durable and reliable result. My own print was made with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a PRUSA I3 MK3S printer, using 1.75mm Aurarum white filament in PETG.
