Filament Chip Tray
thingiverse
Early on in my home printing experience, I began producing small squares ("chips") of filament as test prints and samples of various filaments available to me. I soon realized the need for a convenient way to store them and display them neatly. The large Chip Tray (207 x 87 x 9 mm) is designed to hold forty chips comfortably. This tray can also be used to hold other household items with ease. Each Filament Chip measures 20 x 20 x 5 mm in size. Before printing the larger tray, I experimented with the Chip Tray Test (32 x 32 x 9 mm). The smaller test trays I now have are ideal for catching drips from my printer's second nozzle. These were among the first models I designed using Tinkercad. You can find more of my designs on Cults at https://cults3d.com/en/users/abbymath. The walls and base of these trays are thin, measuring only 1 mm in thickness. With a few solid top and bottom layers, along with perimeters/shells, they achieve an effective 100% infill rate. Pictured are various PLA chips from different brands and colors, including glow-in-the-dark and color-changing options under UV light.
