Filament Bot Sensor Holder
thingiverse
So I finally got fed up with my makeshift filament sensor holder and decided to build a new one from scratch. Drawing inspiration from ToddsWorld's original filament guide, I revamped the design to create a sturdier and more reliable system. A key improvement was adding a support leg to the C clamp that attaches directly to the printer itself, providing added stability and security. The mount is rock-solid, and you can reinforce it with glue for extra strength if needed - although I opted not to and so far, it's held up beautifully. I employed 2.5 x 10mm screws with a lock nut, which provided a secure fastening solution. However, the holes are only 3mm in diameter, so I had to use what was readily available - 2.5 x 10mm screws fit the bill perfectly. I designed the new holder using Vectary and sliced it with Simplify 3D. After experimenting with various orientations, I found one that minimizes support material while still ensuring a smooth filament flow. You can access the original filament guide on which my design is based at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3405470. While my new holder functions flawlessly and does its job admirably, I'm already considering reworking it to make it even more visually appealing - after all, aesthetics matter too!
