Filament Alarm From Solder Practice Kit
cults3d
I took an old Elenco soldering practice kit out of my closet and decided to give it new life by turning it into a filament alarm. The filament runs through the hole on the side, and when it's depleted, the two leads that were previously separated will connect, triggering the alarm. A small opening at the top allows me to access the volume knob located on the board. To get everything to fit together properly, I had to do some trimming and ended up taping the plates together for reliable operation. If I revisit this project in the future, I'd make sure all the components snap together seamlessly. You can check out a quick demo video here: https://youtu.be/nyVRwVZCkmM
