Filament 18mm wall feedthrough with M6 PTFE couplings
prusaprinters

To guide the filament from the dry box into the self-built enclosure (IKEA Platsa) of my Prusa Mini, I developed this wall feed-through. It can be inserted into a drill hole from both sides and screwed together. Two PTFE couplings with an M6 thread can be screwed in afterwards to attach a PFTE tube on both sides and easily guide the filament through the enclosure wall.

Wall thickness: 18mm

Screw hole diameter: 16mm

Filament diameter: 1.75mm

To learn more about the IKEA Platsa enclosure, check out padigree's amazing instructions including all the printable parts.

Assembly instruction

Print both parts

Drill a 16mm diameter hole through the housing wall

Insert the bottom part of the printed wall feedthrough into the hole

Screw the top part of the printed wall feedthrough from the other side to the bottom part

Insert a 28mm long PTFE tube into a PTFE coupling with an M6 thread and screw the coupling into the wall feedthrough.

Screw a second PTFE coupling with an M6 thread on the other side of the wall feedthrough

Connect a PTFE tube to both couplings

Print instructions

No supports needed

PETG (it can get warm in the housing, which is why PLA is less useful)

Layer height: 0.15mm

Accessories

M6 coupling for Bowden extruder 1.75mm continuous (e.g. https://www.3dware.ch/M6-Kupplung-f%C3%BCr-Bowden-Extruder-1.75mm-durchgehend-De.htm)

PTFE tube 28mm long

2 PTFE tubes to connect on both sides
