We're proud to introduce our version of a filament winder, a system we've built upon Ian Johnson's original design with some exciting new features. This excellent system boasts exceptional stability and is designed to hold up to two spools simultaneously. We've also developed a geared-cone to accommodate our previously published spools, enabling you to use the extruder and create 50-meter spools with ease. Our filament winder is a remix of various open-source components, and we're grateful for the contributions from many users who shared their files to help bring this project to life. We've developed two versions: one featuring predominantly 3D-printed parts, as well as another version that utilizes laser-cut components. We'll be publishing the laser-cut version shortly. To aid in setup and adjustment, we've included numerous files with various settings and configurations. To enhance the system's functionality, you can choose between a DC or step motor for the spool holder. Feel free to modify and redesign the entire system according to your needs. If you require custom electronics to complete the winder, simply reach out to us. Print Settings: Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: Not necessary Supports: Not required Resolution: 0.3 mm Infill: 30% Notes: Most files are optimized for standard settings like 30% infill and 0.3 mm resolution at 1.75 mm filament diameter. For example, the gears require a minimum of 30% infill to ensure proper functionality. Some components may necessitate support structures during printing.
