The original sculpture by Michelangelo vividly captures a poignant scene, with Jesus Christ lying on the lap of his mother Mary after his Crucifixion. A deep incision is prominently visible just above Christ's ribs, where the spear had pierced his side. This particular cast stands out from others because it uniquely portrays the figure of Christ himself.
