Figure of a Servant

Figure of a Servant

myminifactory

This ancient wooden statue stands at a height of 21 cm and hails from The Old Kingdom (circa 2686 - 2125 BC). Its remarkable preservation is evident in the paint still visible on its head, despite the fact that its arms and feet, as well as parts of its upper body, have been broken off. This artifact entered our collection in 1998 through a generous donation. Servant figures like this one were typical of The Old Kingdom and were believed to ensure the care of the deceased in the afterlife by performing everyday tasks such as brewing beer, grinding grain or baking bread. Unfortunately, the specific activity of these servants cannot be determined due to their fragmentary condition. Inv. No. 1848
