Figure of a King
myminifactory
This representation of a monarch was a prominent feature of the ornate market cross at Bristol, which stood on two separate locations within the city before being dismantled in 1762. In 1764, merchant banker Henry Hoare acquired the cross to enhance the grounds of his estate at Stourhead, Wiltshire, where it still stands. This figure and three others displayed nearby were replaced by replicas in 1980. The identities of these individual kings remain unknown, although they may represent John, Henry III, Edward I, or Edward III.
