White ceramic figurative sculpture captures diplomacy in artful composition created by Charles-Gabriel Sauvage at Niderviller pottery and porcelain manufactory in northeastern France circa 1780-1785. King Louis XVI and Benjamin Franklin are depicted in fine detail on a delicate base, measuring 12.312 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 6 inches tall, made from unglazed bisque porcelain that mimics the appearance of marble statuary. The artist's skillful hand crafted the two leaders in white ceramic clay, showcasing their historical meeting through this exceptional piece, attributed to Sauvage's artistic mastery. "Niderviller" is impressed on the rear base of the sculpture and "No 70" is incised below, indicating its origin and unique production number as accession number RR-1982.0090 records in a museum collection.
