Fifth Element - Earth Stone (thin wall fix)
thingiverse
I printed Imirnman's stones a year or more back and then ran out of matching filament. Well, I finally got around to getting some more and discovered that they had updated their files. I encountered issues with the Earth stone (the others haven't been looked at yet) because the inside wall is too thin to slice properly with my 0.5mm nozzle. The grooves end up becoming holes about halfway through the print, as seen in a picture. I probably could have forced a single-wall print, but I didn't want it to be that thin. I added approximately 0.8mm thickness to the inner wall by shifting the face inward using Meshmixer and then fixed the holes created by self-intersecting faces with Netfabb. Supports were used for the grooves, but not for all the cracks. It was printed upside down so that supports wouldn't be needed inside the entire model to print the top. The walls came out well, and they are still intact.
