Field Monitor Hood & Mounting Bracket

A few years ago, I designed and built a DIY field monitor project that I discovered on Instructables (http://www.instructables.com/id/Affordable-external-monitor-EVF-for-DSLR/). The screen for the monitor is an LCD originally made for use with an automotive back-up camera (http://a.co/2DpSYy2).\r\nThe original project called for attaching the Monitor to the camera using a cell phone clamp, but the cell phone clamp lacks a hood which makes the screen much easier to see in daylight.\r\nAt the bottom of the frame, there's a 'lug' that has a 1/4-20 threaded metal insert epoxied into it. The threaded insert provides stronger threads than if the plastic were simply threaded. I drilled the pilot hole for the threaded insert by hand - not the best option as it requires a lot of epoxy to fill the void and hold the insert in place, but it does offer some flexibility with regards to the insert you choose to use.\r\nAs you can see, the monitor is secured into the frame with a simple rubber band.
