Fidget TetraDecagon
thingiverse
I had always wanted to print the spherical gears designed by Nop21 on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2537199), but no matter how hard I tried, they never seemed to work properly - my printer settings just weren't quite right for that model, so I decided to create something else that would make use of all the bearings I had purchased. I also wanted to incorporate larger 608 bearings because they spin more smoothly, so I came up with this design, which uses eight 624 bearings and six 608 bearings. The holes for the bearings fit snugly without needing to be forced in place - the diameters are 22.3 and 13.2 mm. I added version three, which features filleted edges on the small triangles and pressed the bottom 608 bearing ridge slightly further into the design so that the bearing would fit more securely. I also created a non-624 bearing version with just the holes for the 608 bearings. When I first started spinning it, I noticed that one or two of the 608 bearings were popping out. To fix this problem, I was going to use a small amount of caulk, but it tends to seep into everything, so instead I grabbed a glue stick from the kids' crayon box and used it to hold the bearing in place - it worked perfectly!
