Fidget Spinner with Tri and Quad Versions
thingiverse
There are already plenty of fidget spinners available on Thingiverse, so why create another one? Two reasons: I enjoy designing innovative things and I wanted to experiment with a unique twist - moving the mass of the weight bearings farther from the center point than in most designs. This design change would logically lead to longer spinning times. My experiments have confirmed this assumption, yielding up to 30 seconds more spinning time compared to a Thingiverse design I printed. With a high-quality ceramic 608 bearing at its core, my fidget spinner spins for approximately 2 minutes and 45 seconds. I also aimed to push the boundaries of what's possible with weights in a fidget spinner by designing the quad spinner model. The goal was to see if adding more weight would lead to longer spinning times. However, my tests have shown that this is not the case - the tri design spins about 20-30 seconds longer than its quadruple counterpart, even when using the same hybrid ceramic 608 bearing in each.
