fidget cube with flexible hinges
thingiverse
Js_Way has designed a versatile fidget cube at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2093071. I'm thrilled with this toy and it's inspired me to print cubes using whatever material I like, while only printing the hinges with flexible material because I have limited expensive flex but plenty of PLA in multiple colors. Clearly, there are other scenarios where traditional hinges could be replaced with flexible material too. UPDATE 1 I've added a file called "hinge_multi.stl" that prints eight full-sized hinges. Cut the hinges after printing with scissors to prevent them from moving under the nozzle while printing. They're printed together to make things easier. UPDATE 2 I'm confident this is the only fidget cube that can be printed with wood filament, isn't it? I've added two files called "integrated_support". The hole at the top is closed on both ends (only 1 mm) for easier printing. Open the hole with a small knife after printing. Would love to see someone make this. UPDATE 3 The integrated support is now a bit inside, making it easier to drill and increasing the slot size for a better fit without sanding.
