Fidget Cube Remix
thingiverse
I really loved the concept behind the printed fidget cube, and after printing and using CThig's design for a few days (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1844556), I thought I could enhance some aspects of it. The size should now be accurate for placing into slicers, the wheel has a finger-groove instead of a post to spin, and features a circular internal 'catch' so that it doesn't fall out, the tunnel has two sizes of entry both now smoothed, the slider can be printed directly on the piece (just be extremely careful removing supports!) so there's no seam and it has a bigger place to put your finger, and I added some holes behind the switch so that two pieces of 8mm-long 1.75mm flexible filament can be inserted into it to give it more of a "click" feeling. Like the original, this can be completely 3D printed, but I've also included a wheel and a second cube that can be used with a 625Z bearing for the wheel. Edit 4/17/17: If you're having trouble printing the maze section, I added some more alternatives where the maze and slider print as a separate piece from the main cube. You can still choose with or without a bearing for the wheel. In these files (Cube - No Maze, Maze and Slider), there are two 1.8mm holes in them that are for a 5mm-long piece of 1.75mm filament that you can insert as guides to glue the maze to the cube. Caution: I have not yet printed this to try it out yet -- if you do, let me know how it works! In case you don't have 1.75mm filament on-hand, I've also included a "filament shaft" that will print the cylinder guide you'll need when gluing the parts together. Print Settings Printer Brand: Printer: Prusa Clone Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1 mm Infill: 50% Notes: Supports best added by hand in something like Simplify3D. Be very careful removing them, especially from the spinner hole and from around the slider. How I Designed This Took CThig's design and imported it to FreeCAD. Used it as a guide, but otherwise started from scratch. Materials Needed PLA or ABS, two 8mm lengths of 1.75mm flexible filament (optional), superglue for flexible filament (optional)
