Using 5/16 Fiberglass rods from Tap Plastics I modified the Rostock Rod end's to fit inside and bond with Epoxy.

Instructions

Get some 5/16 Fiberglass rod.
http://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/plastic\_rods\_tubes\_shapes/fiberglass\_rod/159

Then some plastic epoxy (or similar)
http://www.homedepot.com/buy/loctite-085-fl-oz-plastic-epoxy-1360788.html#.UN-0HHfNl8E

The shafts are tapered to make a snug fit and allow a place for the epoxy to bond without squeezing out.

The box at the end of the shaft is a support element to keep the shaft center. Just snip them off.

Cut rod to size, apply epoxy inside rod, insert ends, let set, enjoy!

I printed mine in ABS but because of the tapered shafts PLA should work just as well.
Category: 3D Printer Parts
