Fiber Optic Light Box/Generator
prusaprinters

This is a device built to showcase how fiber optics works due to total internal reflection that I made for a science project in grade 10. It is assembled without any tools and can be used for educational purposes. Also can be used in conjunction with an arduino and a photoresister to detect when light reaches the other side. I used this to demonstrate a morse code decoder, using flashes of light as dots and dashes. Uses 2 AA batteries with LED and resistor as well as a push button. All of it fits inside the box, with optical fibers threaded through the long tube to the arduino and photoresistor setup. Unfortunately I am unable to upload the code to this website to publish that as well. It is a great model for teching optics!

This was entered for the Lights competition as it involved the use of an LED to transmit signals through fiber optics. Please note, I do not have access to a 3D printer, as such, none of my models have been actually tested. If there are any issues please let me know with details such as tolerances that need to be added and I will do so and upload an improved version.

This model was created using Fusion 360.
