FHL Necklace

Necklace design for my wife inspired by the enduring "Faith, Hope, Love" verse from 1 Corinthians 13:13, skillfully designed within Autodesk Fusion 360. I pursued two distinct approaches, yielding two contrasting designs: one featuring the letters deeply embedded in the volume, and another showcasing the letters extruded outward. My experimental use of aluminum sand casting at a miniature scale encountered setbacks with both methods. The recessed text approach adhered too tightly to the sand, causing the pattern to fail to detach properly. Meanwhile, the extruded text technique presented clean shapes but struggled with incomplete void filling due to uneven molten metal, resulting in soft, unrefined forms. Nonetheless, the outcome was pleasantly rustic. **Print Details** Created on a Makerbot Replicator (1) using Gray PLA filament. Design A01 consumed approximately 45 minutes, whereas design A02 completed within 30 minutes, achieved through these print settings: 230°C extruded at removable glass build plate coated in glue stick. High Build Plate Temperature set to Off Layer height: 100 micron; shells count: 2; infill percentage: 10% Material: aluminum; sand cast technique applied
