FG085 Slide On Enclosure
thingiverse
This is an enclosure for the FG085 Function Generator Kit, now available on Shapeways at http://shpws.me/Fbn5. When assembled, the kit leaves exposed sides open to potential short circuits or debris accumulation problems. To solve this issue, I designed a covering for the enclosure from scratch. Alternative solutions exist online, like the designs at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:74152 and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:521812, but they didn't quite fit my requirements. The problem with these other enclosures is that users need to manually drill holes for power and USB access or use glue to bond multiple parts together. I opted to design a one-piece enclosure from the start that fits perfectly around the FG085 Function Generator Kit without compromising its functionality or ease of assembly. To build this project, print it using settings: 1 wall thickness, 10% infill, and no support material. It printed within two hours on my Rep 2 machine. After printing, remove the back panel from your assembled kit and slide the new enclosure into place until it meets up with the front panel of the FG085 Function Generator Kit. Make sure that it is oriented properly to align with the USB and Power ports. Then reattach the back panel.
