FFCP Frame for Printer Bed (for glass)
thingiverse
This is yet another way to hold a surface to your FFCP printer bed securely in place. This frame was specifically designed for a piece of borosilicate glass that measures 155mm x 235mm x 3mm, which I found on Amazon. I also covered the entire top with a layer of self-adhesive PEI that is 235mm x 235mm in size and sourced from Amazon as well. Note: The ABS frame alone is not designed to hold the glass sheet on your bed. My design assumes that you have a sheet of PEI attached to the entire top of the frame & glass that holds everything together. Take a close look at the first photo for clarification. Warning: Although this project is not difficult, it's easy to waste the PEI sheet by installing it incorrectly. Make sure you have an idea of what the final project will look like before exposing the adhesive and sticking it onto the parts in a way that won't actually work. Features: () The whole frame snaps together seamlessly without any adhesive thanks to "Print Very Good". () The ABS frame does not conduct heat, allowing you to hold the glass by the frame even right after a print is done. This is useful for running cold water over the print or putting it in the freezer... () The PEI surface helps hold the whole frame together while also providing an excellent surface area for ABS and PLA, etc., to stick and remove fairly easily. () If you have two of these glass beds, you can quickly swap one bed out for the other and keep printing without having to cool down your entire printer. Tip: after swapping out one glass for another, you can still level the new surface using the cold nozzle on your printer without having to wait for the hot nozzle to cool down. Note: You'll want to use leftover ABS from rafts, etc., as shims to make the frame fit your printer bed like a glove. Additionally, even though adhesive isn't required, it helps to add glue/acetone inside the gaps and permanently keep the shims in place.
