Festool domino DF500 imperial setup blocks
thingiverse
The Festool domino DF500 is a fantastic hand mortising tool calibrated exclusively for metric measurements. To use it effectively with North American standard sized boards (imperial measurements), considerable calculation or an after-market thickness gauge, specifically designed for undersized plywood boards, is required. The need to create an adaptation that enables immediate positioning of mortices at mid-center on American standard imperial wood sizes becomes apparent. I have uploaded a separate STL file for the DF500 thickness gauge (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3001538). Utilizing the domino setup blocks in this upload eliminates the hassle of swapping out a thickness gauge. (4/22/2019 NOTE: A commercial version of this gauge is now available at https://www.senecawoodworking.com/products/imperial-thickness-gauge-df500.) If you want to adapt these setup blocks for use with the larger DF700 hand mortiser, you will need to add 5 mm to its thickness to accommodate that tool's higher router bit mid-point.
