Spanning a remarkable 500 feet in six horizontal sections installed across pathways within the Park's central Oval Lawn, this dazzling outdoor installation will be on display at Madison Square Park starting June 1, 2015. Inspired by a Fata Morgana, a stunning phenomenon that appears as a shimmering mirage forming horizontally along the horizon line in nature. Fernandez' dynamic project brings a resplendent horizontal element to the park, immersively engaging visitors with a transformative experience. Fernandez's innovative creation presents an elegant mirror-polished, golden metal sculpture soaring above the Park’s winding paths to define a vibrant experiential passage for patrons. Intricately perforated metal forms resemble delicate foliage, casting intricate abstract patterns and evocative shadows as sunlight seeps through the luminous canopy.
