Ferguson's Mechanical Paradox Replica
thingiverse
In 1750, self-educated Scottish astronomer James Ferguson developed the "mechanical paradox," a device he later transformed into an orrery, or tellurion. This text presents an attempt at replicating his design using descriptions and illustrations from Ferguson's original work. While various plans are available online for duplicating the model, this version does not use them, opting to view completed versions instead. A single gear is utilized in the central mechanism; however, files for a three-gear stack will be shared later. The creator has yet to print the parts and hopes to add an orrery function soon, staying true to Ferguson's vision.
