Instructions You may want to use these lights on fenceposts rather than other lights due to their superior durability. I've been using various solar lights for years but found that most extend only 15mm into their mount, leading to issues when strong winds blow them out of place - especially with shapes prone to catching wind. This light boasts an innovative design where the solar cell and LED are nestled inside a substantial glass ball within a heavy shaft containing the battery, extending approximately 45mm in length. Consequently, these lights are less susceptible to being dislodged by wind. Additionally, I suspect the glass ball offers superior weather protection compared to the plastic covers typically used on other solar lights; however, there is a small bottom drain hole which you might want to partially block to prevent bugs from entering. Some of the solar lights I've tried for my fenceposts were pricey, and a few came with additional mounting plates. In contrast, these Westinghouse Petite Crackle Solar Path Lights are quite affordable, available at Walmart for $1.50 each. They come equipped with a 170mm hollow mounting post and ground spike that are not utilized in this custom design. To secure the light, you merely need to 3D print the designed mount, nail or screw it onto the top of the fencepost, and then insert the battery-containing shaft into the printed mount. The mount prints quickly - about half an hour - on my MakerGear M2 using 0.25mm PLA with a moderate fill rate of 5%. It remains sturdy despite utilizing approximately only 11g of material.
