The female head from a herm peeks out of the windows of the Berlin Bauakademie. This object is crafted from terracotta and dates back to the 1830s. Between 1831 and 1836, Karl Friedrich Schinkel's architectural masterpiece, the Bauakademie building, rose on the site where the Altes Packhof once stood at the Schleusenbrücke. Using Schinkel's original drawings as a guide, August Cornelius Gormann's pottery factory produced part of the terracotta ornamentation that adorns the building.
