Female Funerary Statue in the so-called Aspasia Type

The elegantly draped female figure closely resembles a Greek bronze statue from around 460 BC, portraying a goddess like Aphrodite or Demeter. This similarity to images of deities was especially popular in Roman funerary sculpture, where the deceased sought to acquire a heroic image. The head, meanwhile, is a portrait of a woman that dates back to the contemporary 2nd century AD.
