<p>Is it a quick print? Yes!<br>Is it solid enough to work? Also yes with the good parameters!<br>Is it a very low cost accesory that will save your saw and improve your safety? Still yes! Check the short tree falling video below to see!</p><p>I didn't find any felling wedge design here so I designed it to fit with grip right between the battery and the frame of a milwaukee chainsaw. I included the CAD in DXF format here if you want to remix it.</p><p>In the Gcode:</p><p><i><strong>7 walls; Enough to be at 100% infill at the tip of the wedge </strong>or until it is the same width as a regular chainsaw blade. This will be enough to be strong where needed to avoid pinching</i></p><p><i>Infill <strong>20% with triangle pattern</strong> fo a better energy in deformation if squeezed by a tree. Make sure that there is an infill line in the midle of the wedge. I align the prints at 45 degrees on the bed to use the default infill direction lines instead of changing it in the parameters. It will also require the X and Y steppers motors to work together in draft mode prints so they will run cooler.&nbsp;</i></p><p><i><strong>Solid infill every 24</strong> layers, that's where gripping points on the wedge are. <strong>Infill every 2 layers </strong>for thicker lines</i></p><p><i>0,4mm nozzle; 0,25mm layer height; <strong>PETG</strong> as I wanted it to bend if needed. It is possible to print this in draft mode for 39 minutes and it will look exactly the same but will not have good enough mechanical properties to be safely used; take the time to print it well for your own safety!</i></p><p>It's a felling wedge with gripping points that technically goes on the stump side.&nbsp;</p><p>While falling a tree, even this little wedge will prevent back and forth movement of the tree, it will help make it fall at the right place and not just dangerously swing mid-air and fall randomly.</p><p>It's made out of plastic so even if you hit it with the saw, it will not break the saw, it will only break the plastic and will give you the pleasure of printing another one after. It is safer than using a metal axe.</p><p>You can print as many as you want, it's cheap and you will need many of them cutting big trees.
