Felix the Cat
thingiverse
I have always liked Felix the Cat but have found very little in the way of anything to print. So I located a classic pose artwork file and cleaned it up a bit to be able to create a .stl file from it, Some of the original lines were too thin to print reliably or could be difficult to paint later. Note that when you open the stl file you may be notified of mesh errors, but it should open and print OK anyway. If not, I have included both the original "clean" artwork and the modified version that you should be able to open in your slicer using your own settings. This was a derived print from 2D artwork, so the file for the main character is rather large. The gussets and base however were created from scratch. First I edited the artwork using Paintshop to make some very thin lines thicker (easier to print). Then I filled the interior spaces at a 50% grey tone for processing. Next I used Cura to translate the artwork to an stl file and saved the resulting .stl file. The colors shown in the photograph are typical for Felix. The parts were printed in black material and the white and red accents were painted after some sanding and vapor polishing (I used ABS). I hope you like this display model which stands about 5 inches tall including the base.
