Felix Filament Roll Holder
thingiverse
Hi all, I know there are many filament holders out there and I’ve just added yet another one with this post. I wanted to create a simple yet flexible filament holder for my Felix 3.0 3D printer. Some holders are too bulky or are inflexible when it come to the roll sizes that they can take. My previous holder (before I designed this one) was quite adequate and has served me very well since I printed it off, however I’ve now got dual extrusion and needed something that could take two filament rolls easily. The expanding and contracting mechanism in my design allows for various diameters of filament to be used. The whole assembly is easily mounted on the side of the Felix Printer. Please leave feedback. Enjoy! Place a M4 washer onto the screws Then place the Y shaped section over the M4 screws (you may have to move the screws about but make sure they don’t fall out). Now place another washer on each of the screws. Now tighten the whole assembly up by using the Nyloc nuts (don’t tighten it too much, you need it slack enough to move freely). The whole assembly is tightened into place by way of the the Printed Nut Holder which take at one end of it an M4 nut (3 required for each assembly). Parts Required - Framing Kit Assembly Parts Required: Set 1nr M6 Nut into the frame of the Felix (tip place a blob of blu tack or similar into the frame first then let this nut rest on it, position the with tweezers). Now thread the 200mm rod into this nut, until the end inside pushes against the far side of the slot. Then place an M6 Washer along the rod resting against the outside of the Felix frame. Now position the rod on the frame and when you are happy tighten the whole thing up by placing an M6 nut against the outside washer (you’ll have to spin this down the length of the rod). Now cove this using the printed packer (making sure that the large hole in the spacer is used to cover the locking nut next to the frame). Then the holders and the filament to be used are placed along the threaded rod. Another spacer and captive nut is used to secure the filament roll along the rod. Finally an M6 Wing nut is used to lock the roll into place on the bar. It should look something like the above. I hope you all like this design, I have also made a version that uses bearings on the inside of the roll holder, however I much prefer this simpler version that just rotates on the rod. Pozzy 2014
