(Updated on February 10, '14) An ongoing project! In search of a solution for Felix 2.0's spool placement on my DIY model, I discovered that I had enough leftover hardware to create a straightforward post-mounted spool holder. It fits the typical 1kg filament spool with a 50mm center hole diameter and 75mm width, providing slight side-to-side play to minimize friction. Initially, my first file had an issue where the extruder would hit the holder when in the x-axis home position. However, the new placement of this spool holder has been tested with a complete 1kg spool of filament without any snags or interruptions. Simple and functional – give it a heart if you like it! For installation, you'll need only an M4X40 (4mmX40mm) bolt and a shiny metal t-slot brace from your DIY kit. Mount the holder at the very top on the outside of the wide vertical bracket as shown in the image. Make sure the guide is vertical. Slide the spool onto the post, then feed it around the guide. If necessary, you might need to drill the hole slightly, but my bolt threaded in perfectly. If a t-slot brace isn't available, consider tapping the vertical post instead.
