Feliciano Scarpellini (Foligo, October 20th, 1762 - Rome, November 29th, 1840) was a pioneering abbot and Italian astronomer who left an indelible mark on the scientific community. At just 20 years old, he was elected as a master of logistics and metaphysics at the esteemed Roman College in 1782, showcasing his exceptional intellect and leadership skills. Between 1797 and 1814, Scarpellini served as the director of the prestigious Observatory Caetani, Rome's first-ever astronomical observatory. His profound influence extended to the reconstruction of the Accademia dei Lincei, where he also lectured on physics. During this period, he founded the Astronomical Observatory of the Capitol, a testament to his vision and dedication to advancing astronomical knowledge.
