Feed Drive Gear Singer Sewing Machine

A friend of mine recently discovered that the feed dog on her old Singer sewing machine had stopped moving. The feed dog is a crucial part of the sewing machine, responsible for pulling fabric through while you sew, resulting in consistent stitch lengths regardless of the settings chosen. It turned out that the feed drive gear inside the machine had crumbled into pieces. This part was designed to rotate the feed drive shaft gear, which in turn moved the feed dog. Unfortunately, no one seemed to sell the replacement part online due to the age of her Singer model. Undeterred, I created a new gear using the surviving fragments of the old gear and printed it. The new gear is meant to fit onto a metal piece that secures it to the rotating shaft. To secure it in place, I used a mallet to hammer it into position since the gear is designed to withstand significant stress. The replacement gear was specifically designed for Singer model 4552 sewing machines but may also be compatible with other models including: 4600, 4610, 4613, 4617, 4622, 4623, 4624, 6230, 6233, 6234, 6235, 6267, 6268, 7000, 7004, 7005, 9005, 9008, 9010, 9410, 9416, 9417, and 9430. To replace the gear, follow these steps:
