FDL-3 Atomic Talon Stock
thingiverse
I'm thoroughly enjoying the FDL platform and, like several other enthusiasts, have been searching for a stock that fits my play style and comfort level. So, I spent the last 2-3 months designing my own. This is a thumb-hole stock design, primarily created to cover both HVZ and High-End Competitive Play Styles (Specifically Ion Rush). My Goals with this design were to accomplish two main objectives: 1) Expanded battery compartment and 2) Mag Holding for fast reload speed. I'd like to think I successfully completed my goal. FEATURES: This Design is 240mm long or roughly 9.5" from ButtPlate to attachment point with the longest piece, The MainBody being 209mm long. It's just enough to fit on a Prusa bed... Barely. (I can slice the parts down for smaller printers if requested. Just be ready to glue them together) The interior of the MainBody is hollow to accommodate an expanded battery if desired. The current dimensions are 50mm x 40mm x 200mm. I've linked below the battery I'm currently running (It's a massive Battery, Ran all of Endwar on the same charge and three more wars after before I felt like recharging it. I didn't have to; just felt like it). If you do want to utilize the expanded battery compartment; you will need an XT60 extension cord to run from the main battery compartment to the stock and depending on the size of the battery you are putting in there, some padding to prevent the battery from moving too much. If you're using the Semi Tail then there's no issue and you just need to connect both ends together and done. With Full-Auto tails, you will need to cut a little bit of material off the ECS housing to run the wires over the board. You just need enough to not pinch the wires when it's closed back up. This design also holds 2 talon mags inside it for faster reloading and to minimize gear on your person. In my personal experience playing Ion Rush and at local wars, I've seen a fair amount of people get tagged out by getting hits off their mag pouch or carriers. I've also crushed a few mags and 3D printed mag holders in a roll or slide. The goal was to streamline a player's kit in those situations to better optimize their play style. Last but certainly not least, this entire design is modular and as time goes on I will add different designs, length of parts, and have different mag options available as time permits or if anyone requests something specific. MATERIALS NEEDED: 15x 3mm Screws of various lengths. Specifically 3x 20mm Screws for the ButtPlate and sling point to the Bottom of the FDL grip. The remaining 12 Screws used, are 8mm screws. All the holes have some extra space for longer screws if needed. INSTALLATION: The Stock assembly is fairly straightforward. There's an opening on the main body where the cheek rest goes so you can access the screw ports inside. NOTE: This is still a WIP and I will be testing and updating as I go, but it's to the point that if anyone wants to make their own, they'll have very little issue in doing so.
