FCR-22 Taipan Assault Rifle FTW+Regular high performance foam blaster
cults3d
The Taipan is a high-performance Nerf assault rifle designed for large 3D printers, offering an impressive build plate of 300x300 mm and no assembly required. This rifle provides ample space for batteries and electronics as well as easy access to the battery compartment via a simple button press. Its dual FTW+regular sized cage delivers top-notch performance while integrating seamlessly inside the blaster. This project requires dedication, and I expect builders to have experience with wiring up such a blaster. I've included STEP files for reference and modification purposes, ensuring that users understand the licensing requirements. Selling the Taipan without permission is prohibited; interested sellers should contact me directly. Tips are greatly appreciated, helping me create future Nerf projects. Feedback is welcome, although I may not respond to every message, as I read all comments. If issues arise, I'll do my best to assist. The hardware list includes: * 2 Standard Omron-sized microswitches * 4 Motors of choice * FTW, Nightowl, or Cabanossi flywheels * Regular-sized flywheels (I used Worker ABS) * Wiring and a battery plug of choice * M2.5x10 screws or their imperial equivalent * Some M2 motor screws * 4 x 0.4mm compression springs or spring material * 4 x 0.4mm extension springs or spring material * FTW solenoid * M5 screws for Picatinny attachments * 3mm pin material and a means to cut it Optional components include: * Nerfduino or an Arduino (I have no experience with wiring these up) Print settings: Parts are not oriented for printing, so the best results will be achieved using Cura slicer. The recommended print settings are: * Layer height: 0.24 mm or lower * Perimeters: 3 or more * Supports: Preferably use tree supports and place them everywhere, not just above the build plate * Print speed: 60 mm/s (this may vary depending on your setup) * Top/bottom layers: 5 or more * Infill percentage: 15% (you may be able to get away with lower) Before proceeding, ensure that moving parts fit together without friction. Assembly instructions: 1. Start by assembling the cage, attaching and wiring up the motors, and carefully adding the flywheels. 2. Move on to the receiver, wire up the microswitches to the cage, solenoid, and optionally a Nerfduino or an Arduino. Don't forget the battery plug; make it longer so it reaches the end of the stock. Keep in mind the placement of these components. 3. Assemble the grip and trigger together with a cut-to-length 3mm pin, ensuring minimal friction. 4. Attach the grip to the receiver using two screws on its back, making sure the wiring is secure. Test the trigger; it should first depress the rev microswitch and then press the fire microswitch. 5. Carefully drop in the solenoid, taking care not to pinch any wiring. After that, screw in the cage. 6. Cut a 3mm pin to fit between the slots on the lower receiver. Attach and hold the mag release with a 4mm compression spring in its place. Optionally add the flared magwell; all components should have their holes lined up. Run the pin through it and test the mag release by inserting a magazine. 7. Screw on the stock, run the battery plug inside, and screw on the stock cap rail. 8. Assemble the stock cap and lock with a 4mm compression spring and a cut-to-length pin. Test fit and remove it from the stock; if it works properly, proceed. 9. At this point, you should be able to test fire the blaster. 10. Optionally attach the cheek rest on the stock using two motor screws. 11. Build the jam door assembly; the jam door lock goes into its slot with a 4mm compression spring. Pre-compress it slightly and put the jam door in place. 12. Attach the angled Picatinny rail to the handle, screwed from the inside. 13. Screw on the handle on top of the receiver, using quite a few screws. 14. Screw on the barrel shroud. 15. Put the barrel halves together and screw on the tip. 16. Insert the assembly into the barrel shroud, securing it with the two rearmost holes. 17. Optionally add the foregrip or iron sights; they use M5 screws to attach to the Picatinny rails. 18. Enjoy your fully assembled Taipan!
