Did you shit your pants when you found out a short shift kit for your FC was $200? I sure did. Save your money and your favorite underwear and buy an eBay short shifter kit for a 90's Miata for $40 instead; with minor modifications, you can get it to work perfectly in your RX7! Only two things need to be changed: a bushing that comes with the kit needs to be turned down slightly, and the collar that bolts to the top of the shift housing needs to be shimmed. You can shim it with washers, but then your whole car will smell like delicious gear oil. These shims will allow you to perfectly adjust your shifter while keeping the gear oil seal in tact. 5 STL files are included, 1- through 5-mm shims, so you can print what you need and get those buttery smooth shifts. I went with a 4mm shim under the collar, and a 1mm on top, but your kit might be different. I added an image of an eBay listing similar to the one I used; the part circled in red is the bushing that needs to be turned down. If you don't have a lathe, you can put it in a drill and use sandpaper to get it to fit. Should work for both NA and Turbo transmissions. Not for commercial use.
