FBM 2 Exercise: Designing a Mug & Coaster Assembly

grabcad

In this college task, you were introduced to using parameters in Autodesk Inventor 2016 for problem-solving design tasks. Your role as an engineer involved designing a mug and coaster assembly. The mug should hold 15 fluid ounces, be no more than 125 mm tall with a 5 mm lip, made of aluminium with a base thickness of 5 mm and wall thickness of 3 mm. You were required to find the radius of the mug (assuming cylindrical shape) and determine the weight of the mug before adding the handle in kilograms. Additionally, you had to create an adaptive assembly coaster that updates when the mug diameter changes, with a diameter 10 mm larger than the mug's.
