Fazzstruder
thingiverse
Tired of standard extruders, this user crafted their own geared design featuring a larger diameter filament driver. Inspired by MoonCactus' rollerstruder, they found cutting a groove and hobbing it more effective than notched heads. Designed for 3mm filament, results were good, but the user switched to 1.75mm for bowden setups. The mounting holes fit Prusa ends with filament pointing forward like Repraps. A NEMA23 direct drive extruder design is available at a specified link. Required non-printed hardware includes 608 ball bearings, NEMA17 stepper, a 45mm+ M8 bolt, M5 threaded rod, M5 knut, 2mm x 20mm bolt, 0.25" tubing with a 1/8 NPT pneumatic fitting, and a stiff spring. The main part to machine is the hobbed bolt, created through turning on a lathe or using a file and drill. Tensioner assembly requires cutting a hole in the rod for a smaller bolt and adding a cam. The pneumatic fitting should have its hole drilled through for tubing passage. Add washers and nuts to secure the large gear properly.
