Faux Book Safe
thingiverse
Keep your valuables and secrets safe by hiding them in plain sight. This clever Model prints easily in only 3 pieces and looks impressively convincing. The safe is held firmly shut by friction and opens smoothly with the gentle pull of the book mark ribbon. Assembly is a breeze, requiring only a rubber band, a ribbon, and super glue. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: ANY Notes: Printing the book cover upright is recommended to achieve the best results. The cover may have a tendency to warp, so ensure your bed is level. We used a small amount of PVA glue on a glass build plate to minimize warp. Print the book center WITH support. Post-Printing It's a good idea to assemble the lever before installing the book center. Simply pass a ribbon through the slot and glue it to the short end of the lever. For a standard office rubber band, double up the rubber band and wrap it around the back of the lever. The book center is a VERY tight fit. We used a bit of soap and a rubber mallet to get it into place. If desired, you can scale down the model in makerware, but we wanted a perfect fit look with no gap.
