Faun playing with his younger brother
myminifactory
The sculpture serves as a testament to the artistic inclinations of mid 19th century art, still heavily influenced by idealism in the spirit of classicism, yet gradually shifting towards more realistic representations. Portrayed as mythical nature spirits, the figures exude a sense of gentle affection, with the little boy and his older brother gazing tenderly at one another. The plaster model for this sculpture was showcased at the prestigious Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in 1866, while the marble version was commissioned by Nationalmuseum.
