This striking public sculpture situated just outside the main entrance of the Narodowe Museum in Warsaw forms a crucial part of the museum's voluntary program aimed at showcasing the vibrant 21st century Polish Art scene. The appeal of the Gallery of 20th and 21st Century Art lies in its impressive collections, carefully curated by experts to highlight the most compelling works on display. The museum boasts an extensive collection of modern and contemporary art, one of the largest of its kind in Poland, which was established alongside the country's emergence as an independent state. These collections were significantly expanded after World War II. Warsaw's National Museum, founded in 1862 as the Museum of Fine Arts, is one of the oldest art museums in the country. Following Poland's regaining of independence in 1918, the museum played a key role in shaping the new state and its capital city. The iconic Modernist building that houses the museum today was constructed between 1927 and 1938. Today, the National Museum in Warsaw proudly showcases an impressive collection of over 830,000 works of art from Poland and abroad, spanning ancient times to the present day, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, coins, and utilitarian objects.
